Some work from this past semester!

Hey guys! I have a lot of work coming up, but I don't want to give it all away. In the meantime here's some stuff to tide you guys over!

Here's the mood board for a six-piece collection: make sense?

For my Degree Project class we had to design a collection for a company we'd like to work for. I picked Rodarte because I love the way they manipulate fabrics. The inspiration for this collection is the band The Raveonettes - I wanted the collection to reflect their soft, yet intense music which features a lot of distortion and layered sounds, in addition to influence from 1950's and '60s r&b and love songs. (I think I did a pretty good job of being concise, am I right?)

The illustrations are done entirely in marker, maybe with a little colored pencil. I get a little carried away sometimes.

Also, here is the mood board for my SENIOR collection. Craziness.

I'm not showing sketches because I want to surprise, but maybe you can guess what it's about. Get it? I hope so.

Oh, and the final collection will be ready to wear. Imagine me making studded ball gowns, haha.

More to come - Happy New Year lovely people!

Love's Labour's Lost

I've finally finished the flyer for The Gazebo Players' production this summer!

I wanted it to be like a flyer for a college sports match, since we are performing Love's Labour's Lost as a modern-day feud between two universities. I'm really pleased with how it came out and YOU SHOULD COME SEE THE SHOW!

The show is about four men who vow to swear off of women in order to pursue their studies. From that description alone, you can already see the chaos unfold!

I will be performing as Jaquenetta, the country wench who, in a side plot, is diligently chased by the ridiculous Don Adriano de Armado.

Hope to see you there!

Summer Art- New Stuff!

Hey guys! Here are a few more things I've done recently:

Ruffled blouse - made from an A.C. Moore T-shirt and some taupe jersey knit I had lying around. I plan on using it as another example to show my DIY fashion class I'll be teaching!

And yes, that's me standing in front of a toilet. Best place to take the photo. Don't judge.

This is a crest I designed for a local Shakespeare production I'm working on! The Gazebo Players are performing Love's Labours Lost and we're basing it around two universities! This crest in particular is for the men's university in the play. How exciting!

I'll post more information about the show soon, as well as more upcoming artwork!

Take care everyone!

Summer Projects!

So I'm enjoying this break from school. Actually having the time to make things for myself is quite nice. Here's a little of what I've been up to:

Oversized peach jersey tank top - I love the oversized clothes that have been fashionable lately, though I must admit; this one looks better with a close-fitting cardigan on top! I became OBSESSED with this fabric when I saw it over the winter and have finally put it to some good use. You can't really tell here, but it's got some heather gray in there too. I love it.

Purple knit tank top with ruffles - I made this one for the fashion show. I like that it can be dressed up or down..

So this one's a little more quirky, but it's made from a bunch of old t-shirts and is entirely hand-sewn. The skirt is for a class I'll be teaching at a local day camp which is essentially about making DIY alterations to your own clothes - how fun!

Lastly, some Gaga-inspired rabbit ears for good measure.

Happy summer everyone!
